The upcoming yatra to Altai, organized from August 9 to 18, 2026, is designed as an integral discipline combining the physical traversal of the route with inner contemplation.
Yatra (Skt. yātrā — "journey", "procession") — in the tradition of Sanatana Dharma, this is not merely movement through space, but a conscious pilgrimage to sacred places (tirthas), coupled with austerity (tapas) and spiritual discipline (sadhana).
Tattva-vidya (Skt. tattvavidyā) — derived from the roots "tattva" (nature, primary element, true essence) and "vidya" (knowledge, science). It is the discipline of studying and realizing the fundamental principles of the universe that form the basis of manifested reality.
According to the "Puranas" and "Agamas", Tirtha-yatra is an important element of spiritual life. The sacred geography of the tradition views certain mountain peaks as earthly projections of higher states of consciousness.
Historical and geographical context: In the spiritual cartography of Eurasia, two key poles of power stand out: the Himalayas in the south and Altai in the north.

Mount Belukha (a 3-headed peak, the highest point of Siberia, 4506 m) is traditionally revered as a northern sacred center, functionally comparable to Mount Kailash in the Himalayas. These peaks are considered axis mundi (the world axis), places where the manifestation of divine energy (shakti) reaches its fullness.
“Just as the sun dispels the darkness of the morning, so the visiting of sacred places (tirthas) purifies the mind and prepares the jiva for the perception of the highest truth.”

Program
1. Contemplative walking and mindful presence
The route to the foot of Belukha is viewed as a dynamic meditation. Unlike ordinary tourism, yoga-yatra implies the observance of mauna (a temporary vow of silence) and concentration on every step, which transforms physical exertion into the practice of pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses from external objects).
2. Study of Tattva-vidya
Under the guidance of nun Nityashri Giri, representing a traditional lineage of succession, participants will begin the study of Tattva-vidya. The practice includes: Analysis of the interaction of the five gross elements (pancha-mahabhuta) in the macrocosm and microcosm.
Methods for harmonizing internal states through attunement with the natural primary elements.
3. Energy disciplines (Prana-sadhana)
Within the framework of the pilgrimage, transmissions (upadeshas) of specialized techniques for accumulating and distributing energy (prana) will be given:
Surya-sadhana: Working with solar energy in high mountain conditions.
Vriksha-sadhana: Methods of interacting with the energy field of Altai trees to strengthen vital force.
