An educational and practical seminar by the monk Ramanatha dedicated to the tradition of nada yoga — the practice of focusing on sound as a support for meditation — will take place on October 31, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Rome time.
Seminar Program
Over approximately three hours, the following topics will be covered:
Introduction to the practice of inner sound yoga.
The basic concepts of nada yoga, the distinction between external and internal sound, and the importance of sustained attention in meditation.
Awakening the chakras through syllable chanting.
Sound syllables will be considered in the context of traditional notions of the chakras — psychophysical centers described in a number of yogic and tantric sources.
Bhramari pranayama.
A breathing practice involving a sustained humming sound, whose name is associated with the image of a bee. It is used to calm the rhythm of the breath, gather attention, and prepare for meditation.
Shanmukhi mudra.
A traditional technique in which the sense organs are partially closed with the fingers. Its purpose is to reduce external sensory stimulation and strengthen the inward direction of attention.
Nada sanchadana.
A practice associated with directing and becoming aware of sound consciousness in the process of inner work.
Ways of applying the Om mantra.
Ways of using the syllable Om as a sound support for concentration and awakening inner auditory perception will be considered.
Nadanusandhana.
A method of progressively investigating the inner sound, presented in the corpus of hatha yoga texts as a means of deepening concentration and calming mental activity.
Answers to participants’ questions.
