Prana Vidya Seminar in Кishinev

On February 7, 2026, in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova), a significant event in the life of the community took place — a scientific and practical seminar on Prana Vidya. The event was conducted by Mahant Vedamatri Giri with the direct blessing of the Guru, emphasizing the inviolability of the parampara principle — the living connection between teacher and disciple.

The term Prana Vidya (Skt. prāṇavidyā) consists of two roots: "prana", which means "life force" or "primary breath", and "vidya" — "knowledge", "science", or "teaching". In the context of Sanatana Dharma, Prana Vidya represents a profound metaphysical and practical system of managing the body's subtle energies, aimed at achieving inner balance and spiritual realization.

From an etymological point of view, prana is not just physical breath, but cosmic energy permeating the entire creation, while vidya implies not theoretical information, but direct realization (upadesha), transmitted within the framework of succession (parampara).

The foundations of Prana Vidya are laid in the classical texts of the Upanishads and Agamas. In particular, the "Prashna Upanishad" (II.13) states:

"Everything that exists in the three worlds is under the power of Prana."

The tradition emphasizes that without mastering energy, it is impossible to achieve stability of the mind, which is confirmed in the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika" (II.2):

"When the breath (prana) is unsteady, the mind fluctuates. When the breath becomes still, the mind attains stillness."

Within the tradition of Advaita Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism, working with prana is seen as the purification of "nadis" (energy channels) to ensure the unimpeded flow of awareness. Prana Vidya is not an isolated technique but acts as an integral part of a comprehensive path (sadhana), requiring blessing (anugraha) and guidance from a qualified teacher.

The seminar program included:

  1. Theoretical block: Explanation of the structure of the pancha-pranas (five types of vital air) and their influence on the psychophysical state of a person.
  2. Practical transmission: Instruction in methods of harmonizing internal energy flows through traditional techniques sanctioned by the shastras.
  3. Ritual conclusion: Performance of Shanti-karma — a rite of pacification and space purification aimed at removing obstacles.

The final stage of the seminar was the act of Dedication of Merit (punya-anumodana) — a traditional practice of directing the spiritual fruit (merit) from the practice for the benefit of all sentient beings.

The participation of Mahant Vedamatri Giri provided the format of Darshan — a sacred contact with the tradition through the presence of its bearer. The transmitted knowledge and methods are a true gift of the tradition, allowing the practitioner not only to strengthen health but also to prepare the consciousness for deeper stages of meditation and contemplation.

Such events demonstrate the global activity of the Sanatana Dharma community, aimed at preserving the purity of the classical teaching and its accessibility for sincere seekers in the modern world.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.
