From Concentration to Samadhi

One-pointed meditation is one of the most direct and fastest paths to enlightenment. In tradition, this is called the practice of Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi. It is the crown of the well-known eight-limbed yoga of Patanjali.

Fruits of Dhyana Practice:

Rapture of Solitude: How to find bliss and joy in silence and solitude.

Emotional Purity: Cleansing the subconscious of old traumas and mental clutter.

Equanimity: Finding a center of calm that cannot be shattered by external events.

Impartial Bliss: Experiencing happiness that does not depend on external causes.

A Taste of Infinity: Experiencing boundless space and consciousness.

Dharana (Sanskrit: dhāraṇā) originates from the root dhṛ, which means "to hold," "to support," or "to focus." In the classical tradition, it is defined as the fixation of consciousness on a specific object or space.

Dhyana (Sanskrit: dhyāna) comes from the root dhyai, meaning "to contemplate," "to meditate." This is a state of a continuous flow of cognition of the object, devoid of distractions, which naturally grows out of steady Dharana.

Samadhi (Sanskrit: samādhi) is a state in which the duality between subject and object disappears. Only the absolute awareness of the Atman remains. This is the highest point of the yogic ladder, where practice transitions into Realization.

"Concentration (Dharana) is the binding of the mind to one place.

The continuous flow of conscious content is Dhyana. This state becomes Samadhi when only the object appears, without the awareness of one's own self."

Patanjali's "Yoga Sutras" (Chapter III)

By mastering this course, you will receive a clear map of states of consciousness during meditation. This will allow you to progress along the path of Dhyana and clearly understand your own progress. You will gain an understanding of the "dead-end states" of meditation and thereby protect yourself from mistakes and wasted hours. We invite you to our course on the path of meditation.
