This retreat is about the clear recognition of false goals and building motivation for practice.
“The foundation of Dharma practice is the four mindfulnesses. The four mindfulnesses are what make the spirit impeccable and vigilant.”
Swami Vishnudevananda Giri Maharaj
We will practice analytical meditation — contemplation based on the Teaching and logic. This is not “thinking in the head,” but a method that:
- unfolds viveka — discrimination and clear analysis;
- gives rise to vairagya — detachment from illusions and false aspirations;
- creates a fire of impeccability and a true impulse for practice within.
Analytical meditation helps us see that this world is impermanent, the law of karma is real, suffering is not accidental, and human birth is a precious opportunity to exit the cycle of births and deaths.
At the retreat, we will contemplate deeply on the four themes that shape the internal vector:
1. Impermanence. Time is inexorable. What seems important today will disappear. Everything changes: the body, relationships, statuses, plans. This knowledge makes the mind sober.
2. The Law of Karma (cause and effect). We discover a “limiting program” and understand: freedom is not a given, but a potential. Karma is a reality, and it must be worked with.
3. The Sufferings of Samsara. Death, sickness, old age, limitations, the impossibility of satisfying desires — these are not a “mistake of the world,” but its nature without awakening.
“As long as there is ignorance regarding one’s own essence, suffering will continue.”
“Tripura Rahasya,” Ch. 13
4. The Preciousness of Human Birth. We have a rare combination of conditions that allows us to practice. This is a chance that cannot be postponed for “later.”
This retreat is for those who:
- want to find clarity in their goals;
- are tired of false motivations;
- are ready to choose consciously;
- want to strengthen the foundation of Dharma within themselves.
