This retreat is dedicated to the deep practice of illusory body yoga, focusing on the presence and qualities of Shri Dattatreya — the primordial Guru of all Gurus. Dattatreya is a living axis of transmission, Bhagavan, whose enlightened body is empty, luminous, and illusory, like a rainbow.
Meditation on His illusory body is not a fantasy or imagination, but a way of recognizing one's own subtle nature that transcends karma, time, and conditioning.
"The Lord commands: 'Meditate with concentration on these features of mine, and then repeat the kavacha. Feel my presence everywhere in the world, and, always looking at me in a subtle form, follow me constantly.'"
Dattatreya Kavacha
The practice of the illusory body is based on the union of:
- the view of Jnana Yoga,
- contemplative presence,
- visualization,
- bhava (divine pride)
and dissolution into emptiness and light.
By dissolving the illusory body into the space of emptiness and light, we learn to recognize the subtlest luminosity of the mind, which is always present. Since Dattatreya is the primordial Guru, meditation on His presence is direct Guru Yoga. By maintaining faith, connection, and samaya, we open ourselves to the continuous flow of blessing — shaktipata, which purifies our mind, channels, and subtle bodies.
“He who meditates on My presence, on My bhava and illusory body, will always be blessed by Me.”
