Concentration practice. Sound practice. Heart practice.
On the eve of Mahashivaratri, January 30 – February 1, 2026, the "Mantra Yoga" retreat will take place.
This retreat is about the mantra as a living force of sound. Not just repetition, but a way to establish a connection, receive a blessing, and purify speech, prana, and mind. Yoga masters highlight mantra yoga as the most effective method of self-realization for our time.
Cognition of the sound OM (AUM)
OM is not just a sound.
It is a path.
It is a way to liberate the mind and reveal Shakti.
“Mantra is Brahman, embodied in the form of sound… granting Liberation.”
Gandharva Tantra
At the retreat, we will practice japa and dhyana. We will learn to recite the mantra, entering the silence from which sound is born.
We will practice japa on beads, study the rules of recitation, how to avoid mistakes, and ways to purify errors.
We will combine the mantra with contemplative presence so that the sound leads into silence.
“Because it destroys the consequences of all sins committed over thousands of lifetimes and brings awareness of the Supreme, it is called japa.”
Shandilya Upanishad
Who is this retreat for
- if you want a stable foundation for daily practice;
- if you have a mantra but no clear method;
- if you feel the need for one-pointed concentration;
- if it is important not just to repeat, but to connect.
The retreat can be:
• for credit — within the framework of training for the Vashistha Institute courses,
• educational — to deepen the understanding of the principles of mantra yoga, the correct mindset, and the method of practice,
• tapasic — for intensive and focused mantra recitation practice.
Group practice intensifies the flow of invoking the deity, allowing one to extract greater power and depth of the mantra experience.
